While she initially came to Bill Kennedy Law as a litigation attorney, Joan takes on cases pertaining to all aspects of personal injury as well as criminal defense law. She holds tight to the fact that every person is entitled to the protections of the Constitution and zealous legal representation. As a law student, she represented clients free of charge through the Southern Methodist University Criminal Defense Clinic. In addition to receiving training from experienced, passionate attorneys, she was exposed to the injustices and hopelessness experienced by many of those who sustain serious injuries or are accused of a crime. She came to appreciate the importance of the protections that many people believe are mere technicalities of the law and has dedicated her life to fighting for her clients’ rights since then.
Joan appreciates that there are two equally important aspects of every case—the technical and the human. An injured or criminally charged person can receive justice only if he or she is able to effectively navigate the complex system of laws and requirements. Joan sees herself as a guide in that regard and strives to help her clients’ voices be heard. Through understanding and relating to her clients, Joan has achieved phenomenal results in trial and numerous favorable settlements. Careful preparation, a sound understanding of the law and a passion for representing people are the bases of Joan’s success as an attorney.
