A lawsuit against Kanye West for copyright infringement was filed last year. Specifically, a Virginia rapper, Vince Peters, alleged that West’s hit song “stronger” was not an original. Peters says he played the song for West’s business associate, John Monopoly, and West subsequently came out with a track that sounded eerily similar to the one Peters had played for Monopoly.
The judge, however, clearly disagreed with Peters’ accusations and threw out the case. Judge Virginia Kendall listened to both songs and decided the similarities were not substantial enough to warrant copyright infringement.
