Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was convicted of a charge of conspiracy to destroy building and property of the Unites States in connection with Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. A federal jury convicted Ghailani on Wednesday.
Ghailani faces a minimum of 20 years in prison and a potential life sentence for his involvement in the terrorist attacks.
The trial is receiving a lot of media attention because it being considered a testing ground for President Obama’s theory that terrorism suspects could be tried in civilian courts outside of military tribunals.
