A former student from the University of Tennessee hacked into Sarah Palin’s email account in 2008. Now the former student, David Kernell, is potentially going to be serving a year and a day in a halfway house. The presiding judge opined that Kernell should get mental health treatment.
Kernell, an economics major, calculated the answers to Palin’s security questions and hacked into her account. He subsequently read all her private emails. Kernell was convicted of unauthorized access to a protected computer, as well as destroying federal records to impede a federal investigation.
Palin’s Facebook page indicates that she is relieved about the whole incident.
